For the first time the author team Dr Maria Besse, Thomas Besse and Dr Bernd Goelzer edited mayor office invoices from the duchy Palatinate Zweibruecken from the 17th century. On the basis of the original they transcribe the mayor’s office invoices of the twon of Hornbach (Statt Hornbacher Bürgermeisterey-Rechnungen) of the years 1688/89, 1698/99 and 1699/1700, supplementary a detailed introduction and inhabitant's lists from 1663 to 1675. During the last years, mayor’s office and town accounts from the Middle Ages and the early modern time experience higher interest. This is not a surprise, because they form the primary reports of the towns for these epochs. How were the accounts built up? Which positions are grasped in detail? Can the family researcher find personal data therein? These questions remain unanswered if information is only taken in extracts from the mayor’s office invoices. Three mayor’s office invoices are entirely published in the original text. The cameralistic construction of the accounts books is thereby disclosed exemplary. For the first time a detailed insight is granted in the accounts of a city administration after the 30 Years War. In the specialized literature one can only rarely find office of mayor accounts completely edited. A register of names of people and names of places completes the book, which is of special interest to name and family researchers as well as to historians.
